LSWA Scholarship Program
Investing in Louisiana’s Future
Each year, the Louisiana Solid Waste Association awards three $1,000 scholarships to Louisiana high school seniors planning to enroll full-time at a four-year university in Louisiana.
The scholarships honor Dr. Gordon P. Boutwell, Jr., William “Bill” Mollere, and James “Buddy” Velleman — pioneers in the solid waste industry and advocates for education.

Eligibility
Applicants must be Louisiana high school seniors planning to enroll full-time at a four-year university in Louisiana for the upcoming fall semester.
Required Materials
- Completed online scholarship application
- High school transcript
- Professional recommendation letter
- Community leader recommendation letter
- General recommendation letter
- 500–750 word personal essay
